Keller defends his Des James Memorial Crown

Second season V6 Sprint racer Bradley Keller successfully defended his Des James Memorial Trophy at Speedway City last Saturday Night defeating the largest V6 Sprint field of the season. After remaining undefeated in his heat races Bradley drove his Tinty Auto & Ag / Spitwater #5 JSR to victory in the 20 lap final ahead of former 500cc Solo rider Nathan Simpson and Adelaide Hills resident Nathan Squiers.

MURRAY MISSILE HITS THE TARGET…AGAIN!

Murray Bridge based Sprintcar driver Darryl Wright took out his second feature of 2007 as he destroyed the opposition in Round 3 of the All Transport Crash Speedway City 360ci Sprintcar Track Championship. Driving his Murray Machining and Sheds #28 Eagle he led the entire journey after starting from the pole leading home defending Track Champion Michael Burford and round 2 winner Mark Caruso.

2007 Opens With A Bang

Speedway City kicked off 2007 with an all sections "Kids Night" which was
headlined by the Triple M 360ci Sprintcar feature, round 4 of the JD
Couriers Super Sedan Track Championship, the first appearance of the season
at the Adelaide venue for the domestic V6 Sprints and a Monster Fireworks

WORLD SERIES SPEEDS INTO MURRAY BRIDGE

The 20th Anniversary of the World Series Sprintcars Championship will hit Murray Bridge on Wednesday December 27 for round 9 of the Nation wide series. The event will also incorporate round two of the fourth annual Proton Jumbuck Speedweek, which will see the competitors racing five times in eight days throughout South Australia and Victoria. At this stage the event has attracted over thirty entries, which includes four Americans, with current WSS points leader Jason Johnson being joined by World of Outlaws star Paul McMahon, Dean Jacobs and Brock Mayes. In addition to the four American invaders the field includes all of the leading Australian Sprintcar drivers including four previous National Sprintcar Champions.

HOT FESTIVE SEASON ACTION

Over the Christmas / New period there will be no better place to be than Speedway City for some red hot Sprintcar action. Boxing Day (December 26) will see the return of World Series Sprintcars to the Virginia venue for round 1 of the annual Proton Jumbuck Speedweek while the 360ci Sprintcars will headline “The Triple M Kids Night” on New Years Day. As an added bonus on January 1 the Speedway City Management has decided to allow children under the age of 12 (who are accompanied by an Adult) to be admitted into the venue for FREE!!!

KELLER WINS OPENING ROUND

Last years State V6 Sprint Series Champion Bradley Keller made an impressive start to the 2006/07 Series with victory in the opening round at Murray Bridge recently. With the biggest field of the season in the pit area the competition was extremely tough but Keller managed to hold off his rivals as he took maximum points in the 20 lap finale. Second across the line in the non-stop event was Nick Hall while Mount Barker resident Mark Harrington completed the podium finishers.

COBBY TOO GOOD AT MURRAY BRIDGE

Current Australian 360ci Sprintcar Champion Jamie Cobby claimed his third feature victory of the season as he emerged victorious in the action packed Murray Machinery and Sheds 360ci Sprintcar Feature on Saturday night (November 25) at the Murray Bridge Speedway. Second across the line in the drama filled 25 lap feature was pole sitter Chad Ely with local resident Darryl Wright completing the top three in the sixteen car field.

DOMESTIC SPRINTCAR STARS ON SHOW

Domestic Sprintcar racing will return to Speedway City this weekend with Round 2 of the Speedway City Track Championship. Both 372ci and 360ci Sprintcars will be in action with a total of 27 Sprintcar competitors set to take on the 430 metre clayway on Saturday night (December 2).

LOCALS SET TO TAKE ON THE WSS BIG GUNS

For the first time in many years the local South Australian race fans will have the chance to witness over 30 South Australian based Sprintcar teams at one event as the locals take on the interstate and overseas invaders this Saturday night (November 18) at Speedway City. The 32 car World Series Sprintcars field includes 16 locally based teams, including Jason Johnson driving the Disbury Family racing entry, and 15 360ci  Sprintcars, which will be the main support category for the WSS event.

SIDECARS WHIP UP A STORM

Murray Bridge held their third meeting of the season last Saturday night (November 11) with a diverse racing program headlined by the Wally’s Bottleyard Sidecar Feature and the Autopro Murray Bridge AMCA Feature. Despite threatening thunderstorms in the area all evening and a short delay after a power failure the features were completed just minutes prior to the rain sweeping over the venue.

JONES ON THE FRONT ROW

Murray Bridge resident Ryan Jones opened up his 2006/07 Sprintcar season in fine style at the Australian Sprintcar Masters at Speedway City by securing his first ever Sprintcar heat win. Competing in round 1 of the Speedway City 360ci Sprintcar Track Championship Jones was one of the standout performers during the night and was due to start from position two in the 25 lap final before it was cancelled due to the time curfew.

JOHNSON THE MASTER AT SPEEDWAY CITY

American sensation Jason Johnson carried on his red hot form by dominating the 2006 Australian Sprintcar Masters at Speedway City. After setting the fourth quickest time in time trials and winning the top six-dash he led the entire 35 lap journey to claim his second victory in the prestigious event. During the presentation ceremony Johnson was full of praise for his car owners, Darren and Tricia Disbury and he was clearly elated to start his Australian tour with such an emphatic victory. “It’s an honor to come out here and race for Darren and Tricia Disbury. They always give me a great car and it is a pleasure to drive their car” commented an elated Masters Champion.

WARE VICTORIOUS IN ROUND 2

After a disappointing opening round Trevor Ware bounced back to claim the second round of the JD Couriers Super Sedan Track Championship at Speedway City and as a result he jumped to fourth in the overall series standings. Second across the line in the 15 lap final was opening round victor Bill Miller with Colin Neville claiming his second podium result in as many rounds in the Dave Heyler owned Pontiac Grand Prix.

VANDERSTELT A SURPRISE ENTRY FOR MASTERS

After going sideways on the bitumen all winter in the National Drift Series Craig Vanderstelt will return to more familiar surrounds this weekend as he contests the Australian Sprintcars Masters at Speedway City. In what can only be described as a last minute decision the Mount Barker resident has acquired a Maxwill Motors prepared 372ci powerplant and he will join the star studded line-up at Virginia on November 4.

Bill Miller opened up this 2006/07 season in fine style as he dominated the feature event in the opening round of the JD Couriers Speedway City Super Sedan Track Championship. Sprintcar Season Heating Up

After a low key event last weekend, that saw only four cars at the opening practice event of the year, the action stepped up a gear with ten Sprintcar competitors making the trip to Murray Bridge on Saturday night (October 14). A total of six open and four 360ci cars took to the track with Wayne Rowett and young Lee Dillon looking the most impressive.

 A large and enthusiastic crowd turned up at Murray Bridge for the opening night of the 2006/07 South Australian Speedway to witness and all sections meeting which also included Sprintcar hotlaps and the second running of the Great Aussie Caravan Race. Despite it being early season the competitor numbers were quite strong in a majority of classes with the Sidecars, Supers Sedans, AMCA’s and the Formula 500’s being the standout categories of the evening.
