SUPERS SET TO DELIVER THE ACTION

By Phil Michell

If you are a fan of the awesome V8 Super Sedans then you should be trackside at Adelaide’s Speedway City this Saturday Night as the venue is set to host the opening round of the JD Couriers Super Sedan Track Championship (October 28).

In what can only be described as an impressive early season line-up thirteen of South Australia’s best Sedan pilots are set to take to the 430 metre clayway for the opening hit out of the Speedway City season. Leading the entry list is National Super Sedan Series contracted star Bill Miller, who will put his Blair Athol Auto Parts Pontiac Grand Prix through its paces for the first time this summer.

Along with Miller, team mate Trevor Ware, Ian Leyson, Dave Walsh, Shane Dryden and Andrew Leach will also be contesting their first events of 2006/07 so they will have to get up to speed early to catch their rivals who dusted off the cobwebs a fortnight earlier at Murray Bridge.

After capturing the feature at his opening event of the year Gil Worthley will be hard to catch in his #3 Holden Commodore as will rookie Daniel Miller, who was an impressive runner-up a fortnight ago in his first ever feature event. The remaining entries include Mannum speedster Colin Neville, ex 360ci Sprintcar driver Graham Stewart, Angle Vale’s Tony Howlett, Dave Harper and veteran Kym Cottrell.

Round 2 of the JD Couriers Super Sedan Track Championship will be held a week later on November 4, when it will be the main support category to the 2006 Australian Sprintcar Masters. It is anticipated that the Super Sedan car numbers could increase for this event as there are still a number of cars being prepared for the upcoming season.

In addition to the Super Sedans the meeting will also include Sprintcar Hot Laps, AMCA Nationals, Street Stocks and Junior Sedans.
