VANDERSTELT A SURPRISE ENTRY FOR MASTERS By Phil Michell After going sideways on the bitumen all winter in the National Drift Series Craig Vanderstelt will return to more familiar surrounds this weekend as he contests the Australian Sprintcars Masters at Speedway City. In what can only be described as a last minute decision the Mount Barker resident has acquired a Maxwill Motors prepared 372ci powerplant and he will join the star studded line-up at Virginia on November 4. With Craig still waiting for his 410ci engine to be completed he thought that the Masters would be an ideal event to get some laps in before his assault on the “Parramatta Posse” later in the season. This weekend the team will utilize the Maxim Chassis that Craig drove to his career best World Series Sprintcars result last November and it will carry his familiar #21 on the tail tank. It has actually been a while since Craig campaigned this particular car with the last time being the World of Outlaws Down Under event at Parramatta in January. As you may recall the Vanderstelt machine was one of the best looking cars on the track last summer and as it did a season ago it is sure to turn heads once more. Unfortunately with regular sign writer Adam Currie moving to the US he was unable to design this seasons paint scheme therefore local Mount Barker based company Mad Aussie Signs were employed to add the finishing touches to the black and red Maxim. In the past they have been responsible for designing Darryl Guerin’s immaculate 360ci machine so the results are sure to be first class. The Zenith Motorsport Team would like to thank the following corporate partners for their support during the 2006/07 Speedway Season:
