By Phil Michell 19-12-06 Over the Christmas / New period there will be no better place to be than Speedway City for some red hot Sprintcar action. Boxing Day (December 26) will see the return of World Series Sprintcars to the Virginia venue for round 1 of the annual Proton Jumbuck Speedweek while the 360ci Sprintcars will headline “The Triple M Kids Night” on New Years Day. As an added bonus on January 1 the Speedway City Management has decided to allow children under the age of 12 (who are accompanied by an Adult) to be admitted into the venue for FREE!!! As it has done for the previous three years Speedway City will kick off the Speedweek Series and currently the entry lists of 34 competitors boasts four Americans, including current WSS points leader Jason Johnson, in the Disbury Family Racing #5 and World of Outlaws feature winner Paul McMahan, who will be substituting for Drew Kruck in the Titan Racing #36. Joining these two “Super Stars” will be Ohio based duo of “Mean” Dean Jacobs and Brock Mayes, both of whom will be making their Speedway City debuts. Adding to this star studded line up will be a host of Australia’s leading drivers including last start WSS feature winner Robbie Farr in the Krikke Motorsports Cool, Max Dumesny, David Murcott, Danny Reidy, Dan Morton, Warrenne Ekins, Grant Anderson, Luch Monte, Mitchell Dumesny, Allan Haynes and Alice Springs teenager James McFadden. Not to be outdone all of the local Adelaide based talent will be on show and will be spearheaded by 1999 Australian Sprintcar Champion Phil March, Mark Reuter, Matt Egel, Jamie Cobby, Ricky Maiolo, Luke Dillon, Jason Loveday and Justin Sloan. The states South-East will also be well represented with Bordertown’s Ash Cook, Dylan Jenkin and Wayne Rowett competing along with Mount Gambier residents Steven Lines, Glen Sutherland and Karl Enderl. In addition to some of the best Sprintcar drivers in the World and the grueling 35 lap finale the meeting will also feature the opening round of the Oval Express Formula 500 Series with over 35 cars expected from all points of the country. Along with Australia’s best Formula 500 pilots the field will be spiced by the Australian debut of American driver Travis Senter. Then if all of this isn’t enough we will do it all again on New Years Day with “The Triple M Kids Night” which will include a massive program of not only racing action but fun filled activities as well. In addition to the action packed race program a Monster Fireworks Display, Clarry The Clown and another hilarious Ramp Jump Race will keep the younger race fans entertained. The racing program on January 1 will include 360ci Sprintcars, Round 4 of the exciting JD Couriers Super Sedan Track Championship, AMCA Nationals, Street Stocks and the first appearance of the year at Speedway City of the domestic V6 Sprints. So make sure you are trackside at Speedway City over the Christmas / New Year break because the only thing hotter than the summer heat will be the racing at South Australia’s fastest dirt track, Speedway City.
“Everyone
involved with Speedway City would like to wish all of the race fans out
there a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!” |
